Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play digital release, and so the Overwatch 1 disc no longer does anything. In the wake of Overwatch 2’s launch, fans started doing outlandish things with their Overwatch 1 discs, like using it as a coaster. Multiple gamers have used their Overwatch 1 disc as a pizza cutter, and now yet another individual has done so, but this time they used the special Game of the Year Edition of the popular hero-shooter.

Reddit user TheSackofWea has posted an image of themselves using the Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition disc as a pizza cutter to the Overwatch 2 subreddit, amassing nearly 4,000 likes in the process. For those who may be unfamiliar with this version of the game, Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition originally launched in 2017, about a year after Overwatch first launched, and it came with the base game as well as 10 bonus loot boxes.
The original Overwatch won numerous Game of the Year awards when it launched in 2016, but it seems doubtful Overwatch 2 will repeat that feat. Besides the fact that Overwatch 2 is in early access, the game has been hugely divisive since its early access launch. Overwatch 2 reviews have been mixed, with praise for the core gameplay, but a lot of criticism levied at the monetization, progression, and more.
It’s probable Overwatch 2 will improve with time, as Blizzard has plans to add new heroes, maps, game modes, and more to the hero-shooter. However, it remains to be seen if Blizzard will address Overwatch 2’s monetization problems. It has reportedly sent out a survey asking for fan feedback about Overwatch 2 monetization, though, so there is hope that future updates could bring positive change.
As far as future Overwatch 2 updates go, fans can count on Season 2 dropping next month, and in the meantime, they can look forward to Damage hero Mei returning to the game soon. Mei was disabled for a limited time due to a bug tied to her ice wall ability, but she is expected to return to Overwatch 2 as part of the game’s November 15 update.
Overwatch was available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
