Outer Wilds, which also won Best Game Design and Best Original Property, beat out Remedy Entertainment’s Control, ZA/UM’s Disco Elysium, Next Level Games’ Luigi’s Mansion 3, House House’s Untitled Goose Game, and Game Awards’ top winner Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Some of those nominees received recognition elsewhere, such as Luigi’s Mansion 3 winning Best Animation and Disco Elysium taking three awards, including Best Debut Game.

The announcement of Outer Wilds’ Best Game win came alongside a five-way video call with some of the developers at Mobius Digital who thanked their fans and everyone who had a hand at creating the indie game over its long development cycle.

While Outer Wilds launched as an Epic Games Store exclusive, it was recently announced that the game will be available on Steam starting June 18, 2020. That should be the perfect opportunity for more people to try out this critically acclaimed title for themselves.

Outer Wilds is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
