With Bayonetta 3’s story having connections to its past entries, involving multiple timelines, this physical re-release is a good way for some fans to revisit the older game. This entry can help players familiarize themselves with the combo-based hack-and-slash gameplay, along with its brutal difficulty. Not only that, it gives fans a fancy Switch case, which ties back to Bayonetta 3’s special edition.

Fans won’t have to wait for long, as this physical launch will be very soon, September 30. This isn’t entirely new to some fans, as Nintendo announced that the first Bayonetta game would be getting this physical version back in June, alongside the release date of Bayonetta 3. A tweet from Nintendo’s official Twitter account reminds fans that this release is imminent, as it is exactly one week away.

This physical release of Bayonetta was first announced alongside Bayonetta 3’s Trinity Masquerade Edition. In this Special Edition, there are two extra goodies for longtime fans. A 200-page artbook based on the game will be included, along with a special artwork sleeve for the three Switch boxes that the game will come in. This new boxed release for the original Bayonetta, alongside the Switch box of Bayonetta 2, will allow fans to utilize the Trinity Masquerade’s special title sleeves to create a vibrant panoramic Bayonetta physical collection.

It should be noted that the first Bayonetta game isn’t a Switch exclusive, as it was originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, before getting Steam and other console ports years later. Players looking to revisit the first game have a variety of platforms to choose from, while its sequels are Switch exclusive. This physical release should be a great piece for any collector, giving them a unified lineup of Switch boxes based on the series.

Bayonetta is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
